Our Client, a global organization in the steel industry is looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join them on a 12 month contract. The role is hybrid with 4 days a week in office located in Hamilton.

Overall function of the role is to perform a range of accounting and consolidation functions, including maintaining certain aspects of the general ledger, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Corporate Standards and supporting monthly/quarterly/annual reporting.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Timely and accurate preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure that transactions are recorded properly with a focus on intercompany transactions
• Accurate preparation and review of monthly financial reporting package issued from the consolidation and reporting system and respond to any follow up questions
• Prepare timely and accurate financial information to management
• Preparation of compiled financial information and reports required by regulatory agencies
• Documentation, analysis and support of SOX and external audit
• Understand the implications of new and unusual transactions within the assigned month end accounting duties
• Identify and implement process and system improvements
• Ad hoc analysis and special projects as required

TMGCT

• University or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Commerce
• Professional CPA designation preferred
• 3 years of related work experience
• Public Accounting Firm experience a strong asset
• Excellent working knowledge of IFRS including technical accounting and reporting requirements
• Experience working on revenue recognition in compliance with IFRS
• Experience working on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
• SAP system experience is a strong asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work well independently and within a team environment
