As the HR Generalist, you will be an integral member of the People and Culture team. This role plays a key role in supporting Restaurant Operators across a wide range of employee relations, compliance, and policy matters. This role is the first point of contact for employee concerns, guiding leaders through sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment. With a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, you will navigate complex and sometimes ambiguous scenarios, balancing business needs with fair and consistent practices. Success in this role requires integrity, adaptability, critical thinking, and a passion for building a strong, value-driven workplace culture.
Wage Range
$65,000-$75,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Restaurant Operators on HR-related inquiries and provide advice and guidance, including relating to Employment Standards, and Employee Relations.
- Be the first point of contact for HR Operations teams on Employee Relations matters.
- Conduct thorough, impartial workplace investigations into employee relations issues/complaints, documenting findings and recommending actions.
- Preparing workplace investigation reports.
- Collaborate with managers to resolve performance or conduct concerns in a fair and legally compliant manner.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on handling sensitive employee situations while minimizing risk.
- Avoid and minimize legal risks and challenges by understanding and maintaining up-to-date and current legislation; educating managers; recommending new/best practice procedures; and assist in training others.
- Maintain required employee documentation and reporting for compliance-related matters and policies.
- Partner with legal counsel as needed to address and resolve compliance risks or other issues.
- Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance.
- Conduct regular policy reviews to reflect changes in laws, industry standards, or company needs.
- Support leaders and employees in understanding and correctly applying HR policies.
- Collaborate with the People and Culture Team on the on-boarding and off-boarding experience.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of work experience working in Human Resources or a related field
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- CPHR designation is an asset (not mandatory).
- Experience working in the hospitality industry is considered an asset.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High level of integrity with the ability to handle employee relations in a professional and confidential manner.
