Job Summary:

Vancouver Wheelchair works is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Power Mobility Service Technician to join our team. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining power mobility equipment including power wheelchairs, scooters, and other durable medical equipment (DME). This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair power mobility devices, including power chairs, scooters, and lift systems.

• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.

• Complete service orders and documentation accurately and on time.

• Travel to client homes, care facilities, or hospitals for on-site service and repairs as needed.

• Communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs, estimates, and equipment status.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Keep up-to-date with manufacturer training and product knowledge.

• Assist in inventory control and ordering of parts and supplies.

• Comply with all regulatory and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical repair or a related field; experience in mobility or DME repair preferred.

• Current Criminal Background check

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Any manufacturer training (e.g., Permobil, Pride, Invacare) is a plus.

• Experience with insurance paperwork and documentation for DME repairs.

• Experience with fork lift operations

• First Aid

Working Conditions:

• Combination of shop warehouse and field work.

• May require occasional evening or weekend hours for emergency repairs.

• Exposure to dust, grease, and mechanical hazards typical of repair environments.
