Job Summary:

The role involves delivering high-quality teaching, leading academic initiatives, mentoring instructors, and supporting student success across all programs. You will also help drive continuous improvement in curriculum, contribute to administrative tasks, and develop job placement programs to enhance the student experience, particularly for Working Holiday Visa students.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Teach a full schedule, as assigned by the Director of Studies and/or Centre Director (Standard, Intensive, or Super Intensive), depending on the needs of the centre.
  • Continuous improvement of Bayswater courses and curricula.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across all centres of the current curriculum.
  • Contribute to development of additional Professional Skills and Practical English offerings to drive profitable enrolment.
  • Proactively contribute and collaborate as a key member of the Bayswater Academic Team.
  • Provide strong leadership to instructors within your centre.
  • Mentor instructors and train new instructors.
  • Provide academic support to students, including monitoring and ensuring student attendance, counselling students, assisting with Monday intake, and dealing with student issues
  • Ensuring pathway students are on track with their University Pathway Plan
  • Managing level-up tests, books, and other resources
  • Assist with academic weekly or sessional tasks.
  • Provide administrative support to the Academics Office, including Payroll, checking completion of teacher admin tasks, and supporting curriculum development and training
  • Collaborate with Student Services and Administrative teams to ensure the best customer experience for all participants.
  • During the absence of the Director of Studies, coordinate with the Centre Director to ensure coverage of responsibilities.
  • Support school operations including facilities and assisting other departments as needed.
  • Establish a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Create lessons that are motivating, engaging, and focused on progress and outcomes.
  • Provide feedback that supports learner development in both language and skills.
  • Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner.
  • Be an active and collaborative member of the school team.
  • Take an active interest in self-development and ongoing professional growth.
  • Facilitate best practices through active collaboration with other teachers.

Job Placement Program Duties:

  • Create and run job placement programs to support Working Holiday Visa students in finding meaningful employment abroad.
  • Build strong relationships with local employers, recruiters, and community groups to expand job opportunities.
  • Work closely with students to understand their goals, provide rsum and interview support, and help them build confidence in their job search.
  • Track student outcomes and use feedback to continually improve the program.
  • Stay up to date on job market trends and visa regulations to ensure smooth and successful student experiences.
  • Possibility of teaching and/or overseeing our professional courses, such as International Business, Project Management, and Customer Experience Management

Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

Essential

  • Experience teaching ESL or EAP in a classroom setting.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Valid TESL Certificate, CELTA , Trinity Cert.
  • Experience Teaching English to International Students
  • Experience of using technology in the classroom
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and curriculum development skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of student services, academic pathways, and job placement support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with job market trends (preferred for job placement responsibilities).
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

Desirable

  • Cambridge Delta or Trinity Dip TESOL or equivalent (TEFL-Q status)
  • MA Applied Linguistics and ELT/TESOL
  • Two years post-certificate teaching experience
  • Experience of teaching exam preparation courses
  • Experience of teaching ESPs, such as Business, Academic English
  • Experience of working with juniors

Continuous Professional Development

Bayswater is committed to the professional development of all its staff. We aim to support teaching staff in ongoing professional development, by providing regular training and development sessions that teachers are expected to attend and have the opportunity to lead on occasion. Teachers are observed regularly to help them continue to develop their classroom practice, as well as to monitor performance.
