Position: Interim Team Leader Pharmacy Queensway Health Centre.
Status: Temporary Full Time – 12 month contract.
Department: Pharmacy Department, Queensway Health Centre.
Hours of Work/Shift: Monday – Friday 11am – 7pm EST including rotational weekend coverage .

Position Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and motivated professional with expertise in developing and implementing patient-centered pharmacy services that drive improved health outcomes. As a key member of the Pharmacy leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and executing processes that prioritize patient safety and ensure the accuracy, quality, integrity, and timeliness of product preparation and release.
Your role will encompass overseeing operations at the Queensway Site and ensure the effective management and compliance of Controlled Substances procedures across all locations.
This position requires flexibility to work across all THP sites, with occasional travel between locations as needed. The primary schedule for this role will be Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM EST, with rotational weekend coverage.
Position Summary:Leadership and Team Management:
  • Recruit, coach, train, and monitor pharmacy staff to build a high-performing team.
  • Coordinate daily activities, manage attendance, and oversee performance development programs.
  • Address disciplinary actions as required, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Oversee scheduling, electronic time keeping, and team rounding to ensure smooth operations.

Quality Assurance and Operations:
  • Lead the coordination of operations to meet standards set by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and Accreditation Canada and to participate in preparing for Accreditation cycles.
  • Develop policies and guidelines to ensure appropriate drug distribution, Including Controlled Substance practices and control, promoting safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and patient care teams to deliver high-quality, client-centered services.
  • Monitor quality indicators and leverage metrics to identify opportunities for process enhancements.

Audits and Compliance:
  • Conduct and report on audits to ensure compliance and maintain high operational standards.
  • Provide oversight of Controlled Substance practices across all sites, maintaining adherence to regulations.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
  • Develop workflow procedures and applications to enhance team productivity and support cost containment efforts.
  • Identify and implement innovative strategies to drive operational excellence and improve patient care.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support the integration of drug distribution and inventory systems across sites.
  • Oversee pharmacy operations at Queensway Health Centre, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to overall department success.
  • Provide support to the Queensway Health Centre in transition planning, overseeing equipment implementation, and delivering training initiatives for the Master Build project of the new patient care facility.

Key Qualifications:
  • Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
  • A minimum of 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent expertise.
  • Preceptor training with the OCP is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including EPIC and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and mentorship skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
  • A strong record of positive performance and reliable attendance.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislative guidelines governing pharmacy practices.
  • Extensive experience with unit dose distribution systems, CIVA, purchasing and inventory management, controlled substance regulations, and pre-packaging/manufacturing operating procedures.
  • A demonstrated commitment to patient safety and a passion for delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapting effectively to periods of rapid change and transition.
