We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Tax Specialist to join our Private Farm Family Office in Saskatoon, SK. This role will report directly to the CEO & Founder.

This position is a remote, work-from-home role. Preference will be given to candidates based in the province of Saskatchewan, but candidates from across Canada will also be considered.

Compensation:
Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($105,000 - $115,000 per annum)

The Tax Specialist partners closely with our CI Assante Private Client Investment Counsellor, focusing on clients with investable assets exceeding $1 million. You will play a key role in servicing and growing our client base, working alongside a dedicated wealth management team to deliver high-touch, customized solutions.

As part of a broader team of Wealth Planning professionals, you will contribute to a truly holistic investment and wealth planning experience for high-net-worth farm families across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. This role demands a commitment to excellence in client service and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that farm families face today.

We are trusted by our clients as fiduciary consultantsproviding integrated, comprehensive solutions to the complex realities of family farm businesses. Every engagement requires thoughtful and specialized tax advice, whether the focus is on transitioning the farm to the next generation, winding down operations, or planning for retirement and estate distribution.

While you will oversee personal tax returns, your primary focus will be on researching and developing customized tax planning strategies. Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead engagements for family farm tax and wealth management
  • Collaborate closely with the Investment Counsellor and team as the senior resource for tax planning
  • Plan and coordinate the annual personal and corporate tax planning efforts for the team
  • Oversee the preparation of T1 personal tax returns and ensure their accuracy
  • Manage and guide the tax engagement team to meet client planning and compliance needs
  • Offer ongoing support and mentorship to foster the professional growth of staff
  • Develop and organize the content for our Coffee Row Webinar Series
  • Schedule and plan content for in-person workshops
  • Participate in client presentations to address their inquiries related to taxes
  • Engage potential clients and contribute to the sales process

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPA designation is required
  • Completion of income tax-focused coursework; preference is given to candidates who have completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience; experience in the agricultural sector is highly desirable
  • Direct experience in a client-facing role, preferably in a public accounting or legal firm that specializes in tax
  • Practical experience in farm taxation is essential
  • Strong leadership and effective people management capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and possessing a strong work ethic, with a commitment to professional growth
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
  • Exceptional client service orientation, with the ability to understand client needs, build trust, and deliver tailored, high-value solutions
  • Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution, focusing on win-win outcomes
  • Proficient in using electronic tax research tools and resources
  • Committed to continuous improvement through the implementation of effective systems and processes
  • Supportive of team development through coaching, mentoring, and creating growth opportunities
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, particularly in time tracking and billing for client engagements
  • Professional, reliable, and committed to upholding high standards of excellence
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada under applicable provincial or territorial laws and regulations
