Role Overview:
As the Quality Assurance Manager, you will oversee the quality assurance processes for four product lines and a portfolio of 250 products. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring that all products meet the highest quality and regulatory standards, and you'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, sales, and procurement. Additionally, you will prepare for regulatory audits, ensuring continued compliance and protecting the company's reputation in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Oversight:
- Lead quality assurance for multiple product lines, including private-label packaging for high-profile retail clients.
- Supervise production operations across automated production lines, including managing day shifts and overseeing overnight shifts during peak seasons.
- Oversee production line efficiency, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring quality standards are consistently met.
- Oversee a team of 50 floor employees (20 full-time staff and agency workers) in a fast-paced, automated environment.
- Guide a team of 3 direct reports including QA Technicians and a Senior Documentation Specialist, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Provide leadership and support to ensure your team meets and exceeds performance standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting for both Canadian and U.S. regulatory compliance.
- Lead efforts in preparing for the BRCGS audit, collaborating with external consultants to ensure successful certification.
- Act as a liaison for client communication, particularly regarding product quality, while protecting the company's brand and reputation.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure strong vendor relationships and adherence to quality standards.
- Utilize your expertise in food safety and microbiology to ensure products meet best-in-class safety standards.
- Oversee microbiological testing and biological analysis to maintain product safety.
- Lead or actively participate in audits, ensuring compliance with BRCGS and other certification standards.
- Work closely with sales, procurement, and other departments to align quality initiatives with business objectives and maintain smooth operations across all areas of the business.
- Industry Experience: A strong background in food packaging or related industries.
- BRCGS Standards: Hands-on experience with BRCGS standards, and proven experience in preparing for audits.
- Food Safety Expertise: Extensive knowledge in microbiological testing, food safety protocols, and quality management systems.
- Audit Leadership: Experience leading or participating in audits, ensuring compliance and certification success.
- Documentation & Communication Skills: Exceptional documentation skills and experience working across teams. Strong verbal and written communication, especially in managing external relationships with clients.
