Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and implement GAAP accounting standards through clear documentation and analysis.
- Oversee the accurate recording of revenue transactions, reconciliations, and other key accounting activities.
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for reporting entities, ensuring GAAP compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of GAAP-compliant regulatory reports and filings.
- Contribute to the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) process to maintain compliance.
- Collaborate with managers across departments to achieve shared financial and operational goals.
- Coordinate quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit with external auditors.
- Prepare comprehensive year-end audit working papers.
- Analyze and report on variances between actual financial results and budgeted/forecasted figures, with a focus on efficiency metrics and key performance indicators.
- Maintain documentation of accounting procedures and policies, including ERP and other financial processes.
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account reconciliations, and providing support.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within the accounting and reporting functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Undertake additional tasks as required.
- University Degree in Accounting is essential.
- Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA).
- MBA or other relevant business accreditation is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of GAAP – current and future requirements.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proven experience in financial analysis.
- Exposure to a large accounting firm is an advantage.
- Knowledge of public company reporting requirements.
- Solid understanding of audit principles and experience with the audit process.
- ERP system working knowledge is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
