Job Description

We are currently seeking gardeners for this summer season! We are looking for up-beat people who love getting their hands dirty and working outdoors. The main duties include cultivating dirt in flower beds and tree wells, pulling weeds (roots included!), pruning, edging tree wells and flower beds, and planting. Hours of work are from 7:00 am until 4:00-5:00pm. Monday to Friday, weather permitting. Some make up work on weekends due to weather. The position is full time 44+ hours a week (weather permitting) on a banked time system (averaging agreement). Direct deposit paid weekly. Report to the shop and dispatch from there. The term of the contract is April 15th - October 15th. There are opportunities for year-round employment if you are interested in snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Follow the direction of the crew leader
• Care for gardens as directed garden clean ups, plant care (disease and pest control, dead heading, weeding, fertilization, soil amendments, light pruning, bed edging, tree wells
• Prepare beds for planting
• Plant shrubs, perennials, annuals
• Maintain tools, by keeping them clean and sharp
• Performing great work
• Participate in Health and Safety
• Follow and adhere to best practices, policies and procedures
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
