About the role:

veritree is seeking a builder to iterate and scale our product owner function. This individual will play a critical role in laying the foundation for the product management competency at veritree, ensuring Corporate and Planting Partner needs are prioritized and built into the veritree ecosystem of solutions. In addition the individual will have strong project management skills to ensure well organized delivery.

Successful applicants must be located in Vancouver, BC and be willing to work from our HQ on a hybrid basis (Tuesday to Thursday).

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a champion for the end-users, and have a UX focus.
  • Be technically fluent, especially in mobile applications and backend systems.
  • Have hands-on experience with agile teams and ceremonies.
  • Balance ideal state and long term goals with short term pragmatic execution.
  • Enjoy process design, team coaching, and scaling systems that support a growing organization.

Key outcomes for this role include:

  • Lead agile ceremonies including scrums, retrospectives, sprint refinement and planning.
  • Develop clearly prioritized, technically-sound backlog that reflects stakeholder needs and unlocks partner value.
  • Develop an iterative, scalable delivery process that improves accuracy, velocity, and accountability.
  • Contribute to a culture of transparency, ownership, and continuous improvement across the product & engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities: Product Ownership & Backlog Management
  • You will define, document, and prioritize product requirements based on stakeholder input, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • You will translate these requirements into well-crafted user stories and engineering tickets.
  • You will maintain a prioritized backlog that evolves with changing priorities, partner feedback, and market needs.
  • You will collaborate with design and engineering to ensure solutions are usable, valuable, and technically feasible.
Agile Leadership & Project Delivery
  • You will lead sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, and track velocity, capacity, and delivery health.
  • You will drive sprint and release schedules in collaboration with engineering leadership.
  • You will identify and manage cross-squad dependencies and delivery risks.
  • You will champion the discipline of estimating, scoping, and delivery accountability.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • You will act as the voice of the product across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage individuals and teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of projects.
  • You will communicate product vision, roadmap, and delivery progress with clarity and confidence.
  • You will set and manage expectations around timelines, trade-offs, and decisions.
Process Design & Continuous Improvement
  • You will establish scalable processes for documentation, delivery, and knowledge sharing.
  • You will build rituals and standards that align product, engineering, and design teams.
  • You will define KPIs to measure the success of the product.
  • You will analyze data and feedback to make informed decisions and continuously improve the product.

Requirements

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in a product role within a tech-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with hands-on experience using tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex, technical products from concept to launch.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement across various levels of an organization.

A typical hiring range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000 CAD per year with the final salary offer based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
