We are hiring Mechanic Helpers to assist in the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and service of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components of cars, buses, and commercial transport trucks. The work will be based in various automotive service environments, including motor vehicle dealerships, garages, fleet maintenance companies, and transportation organizations. The role involves working with advanced diagnostic tools and repair equipment to ensure that vehicles and mechanical systems are in proper working order.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work Order Review & Communication
  • Review work orders and discuss details of the tasks with the supervisor to ensure clarity and accuracy of the job.
  • Inspection & Diagnostics
  • Inspect vehicles and automotive systems in operation, including road testing vehicles.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic tools and other testing devices to identify and isolate faults in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Repairs & Adjustments
  • Adjust, repair, or replace components of automotive systems such as fuel systems, brakes, steering, suspension, engines, drive trains, emission control, exhaust systems, cooling and climate control, and electrical systems using hand tools and specialized automotive repair equipment.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet the manufacturer's performance specifications.
  • Scheduled Maintenance:Perform routine maintenance services like oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups on various vehicle types.
  • Customer Communication: Advise customers on work completed, vehicle condition, and any future repair or maintenance requirements.
  • Unit Inspection & Fault Location:Inspect and test mechanical units such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Component Repair/Replacement:Diagnose faults and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the unit or component.
  • Perform the necessary repairs or replacement of mechanical units or components using hand and power tools.
  • Performance Testing:Test and adjust repaired mechanical units and components to specifications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Documentation:Complete detailed reports documenting the issues identified, the work performed, and the status of repairs.
  • Commercial Vehicle Maintenance:Adjust, repair, or replace components of commercial transport truck systems, including chassis, frames, cabs, bodies, engines, air brakes, steering systems, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Truck-Trailer Systems Maintenance:Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems, including structural, brake, and electrical systems.
Physical Demands:
  • This position involves frequent physical labor, including bending, lifting, and moving heavy equipment or parts.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions when performing outdoor repairs or road tests.
  • Use of specialized automotive tools and diagnostic equipment.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in automotive repair is a plus.
  • Proven experience or familiarity with vehicle mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and proper handling of tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with supervisors and customers.
