About the Role
We are seeking a Footwear Specialist/Developer to join our team in Vancouver. In this role, you will play a key role in the development of both new and existing footwear styles, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and sustainability.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in every stage of the product development process—from concept and design to sourcing, production, and final execution. Additionally, you will serve as a primary point of contact with our manufacturing partners, working to bring innovative, functional, and high-quality footwear solutions to market. Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of new footwear styles from concept to commercialization.
- Collaborate with the product team to ensure footwear meets functional, aesthetic, and brand requirements.
- Work closely with factories and suppliers to source materials, components, and samples while ensuring quality and cost objectives are met.
- Oversee fit testing and wear trials, collecting feedback to refine designs and improve performance.
- Ensure technical specifications, including blueprints, materials, and construction methods, align with manufacturing capabilities.
- Manage timelines, approvals, and communication with overseas factories to ensure smooth product launches.
- Identify and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, ensuring products are developed efficiently and to Stonz's standards.
- Stay informed on industry trends, material innovations, and sustainability practices in footwear development.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in footwear development, engineering, or a related field.
- Degree in Industrial Design, Engineering or or equivalent professional experience.
- Deep understanding of footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing processes, from concept to production.
- Experience working with overseas factories and suppliers (Vietnam or China experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in creating and reviewing technical packages, blueprints, and fit evaluations to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot production challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and meet development timelines.
- Ability to inspire, mentor, and collaborate with other team members to foster innovation and continuous improvement.
- Passion for outdoor, kids', or sustainable footwear, with a keen interest in industry trends and material innovations.
