Job Description and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Counter Clerk is responsible for selling vehicle parts, providing customer service, and maintaining vehicle inventory.
  • Identify and sell vehicle parts to customers
  • Answer customer inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email
  • Inventory vehicles that are being sold to Buck's Auto Parts and catalogue them in the Point-of-Sale system
  • Mark vehicles with their assigned stock numbers
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any procedural abnormalities
  • Keep work area clean. This includes the parts office, shared office spaces, and the parking lot
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations

Requirements
  • High School or equivalent
  • No experience necessary, but previous work experience in retail, or similar scrap yard/auto part environment, will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of automotive components, an asset
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, bending, moderate to heavy lifting, and pushing and pulling
  • Computer literate with intermediate skill level for Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic math skills
  • Organized and able to prioritize competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, and over mobile radio devices
  • Polite and friendly with customer service orientation
  • Strong work ethic, uses time efficiently
  • Able to work with minimal supervision/general oversight
  • Strong attention to detail with a keen knack for accuracy when inputting data
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Hours of Operations in the Summer: 8 AM to 6:30 PM (4 shifts per week, 3 days off)
  • House of Operations in the Winter: 9 AM to 5:30 PM (5 shifts per week, 2 days off)
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work (remote location, not accessible by bus)
