General Accountant

As a General Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our company. You will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, contribute to the month-end closing process, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Prep and fill out payments to vendors, using cash, cheque, credit, and other forms of payment
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoot discrepancies, using statement of account and reconciling
  • Process a high volume of invoices in an accurate and timely manner
  • Verify and check accuracy of invoices (dates, amounts, location, services performed)
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Maintain filing systems: Pre-filing system for invoices not yet matched with checks; Back-up filing system – invoices and cheques paid
  • Process monthly reconciliation statements
  • Assist with special projects and any additional duties as necessary.

· Post customer payments by recording cash, cheque, online, credit card, and pre-authorized transactions and update customer invoices to record receipts

  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Prepare journal entries and prepare financial statements for corporate entities and the management companies


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation (or working towards it) is an asset but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with high-volume invoicing and financial management
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and grow their role
