A Typical Day in the Role:

Morning Start – 8:00 AM at the Customer Site

  • Your workday begins on-site at the first customer location, with the day's schedule and job details dispatched to you in advance by our shop manager.

  • Jobs may range from diagnosing electrical issues on a pallet jack to replacing a head gasket on an LPG-powered forklift, and everything in between.

  • Using your company-provided service van and gas card, you travel from job to job throughout the day with your own tools and parts stocked as needed.

On-Site Service Calls (Throughout the Day)

  • Inspect and diagnose issues on a wide range of equipment including propane, electric, diesel, and gas forklifts from various manufacturers.

  • Perform field repairs including brake jobs, electrical troubleshooting, hydraulic repairs, cooling system work, battery testing, and drive unit replacements.

  • Complete routine maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, and filter replacements.

  • Communicate directly with customers to explain repairs, suggest preventative measures, and ensure satisfaction with service.

  • Document all service performed through our digital work order system using a tablet provided to you.

Between Jobs

  • You may contact the shop for updates or parts deliveries if additional components are required.

  • All additional calls, schedule changes, and priority jobs are handled through direct communication with our service dispatcher or shop manager.

Shop Work (Occasionally as Needed)

  • Some complex or larger-scale repairs may be brought back to our Delta shop, where you'll have access to hoists and specialty tools.

  • You may assist with pre-delivery inspections, shop maintenance, or prepping rental units during slower periods.

End-of-Day Wrap-Up – By 4:30 PM

  • Finish up any outstanding documentation or follow-up notes.

  • Ensure your van is restocked, clean, and ready for the next day.

  • Brief the shop manager on completed jobs or follow-up requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair material handling equipment (IC & electric forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, etc.)

  • Perform preventative maintenance services

  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related faults

  • Complete accurate service documentation

  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance, vehicle, and workspace

  • Communicate with customers to explain findings and recommend further service if needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a forklift, heavy-duty, or automotive technician (forklift-specific experience is a strong asset)

  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License with clean abstract

  • No criminal record (bondable for on-site work)

  • Must supply your own professional-grade tools

  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
