Mould Maker Responsibilities:
• Must be able to build a plastic injection mould from start to finish.
• Conducts preventive maintenance on plastic injection moulds, involving tasks such as disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and re-assembly. Working in harmony with production staff.
• Fabricates and restores mould inserts, components, fixtures, and tooling using various machines, including milling, turning, surface grinding, CNC sinker EDM, and CNC milling machines.
• Utilizes CAD/CAM software (Gibbs Cam and Kubotec Cad) for analyzing, programming, and operating CNC equipment.
• Provides essential support for emergency repairs during production.
• Performs scheduled repairs, including flash repair and engineering changes, on plastic injection moulds. Additionally, inspects new tooling for fit and function issues before entering mass production.
Mould Maker Qualifications:
• Grade 12 or equivalent with excellent communication skills in English.
• Licensed Mould Maker with certification.
• Journeyman-level experience in mould making, minimum of five (5) years.
• Proficient in operating tool room machinery and CNC machinery safely and efficiently.
• Skilled in using CAD/CAM systems (Gibbs Cam and Kubotec) and programming CNC equipment.
• Capable of offering technical expertise and advice on mould repairs. Conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
• Must be a self-starter possessing the ability to work with minimal supervision on a variety of different sized injection moulds some with hot runner systems
