The Fleet Manager / Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of large, medium, and light duty machines and other equipment to ensure a safe and efficient fleet. This role requires a strong commitment to inventory control, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on heavy equipment.

• Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on rental fleet equipment.

• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess and repair machinery.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and service history.

• Work collaboratively with the service team to ensure efficient turnaround times.

• Provide field service support as needed, including on-site troubleshooting and repairs.

• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

• Keep up to date with industry advancements and new technologies in heavy equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certification as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal preferred) or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.

• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.

• Valid driver's license (Class 5) with a clean driving record; Class 3 or Class 1 is an asset.

• Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Equipment Types:

Familiarity with all types of heavy equipment including but not limited to:

• Excavators, Rock Trucks, Skid Steers, Wheel Loaders, Telehandlers, Scissor Lifts, etc.

• Hydrema, John Deere, Volvo, Kubota, Komatsu and others

• The ideal candidate would need to be able to quickly learn the ins and outs of the Hydrema machinery, as well as possess strong technical service skills to handle any maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
