Salary: $65,000 - $80,000

The Opportunity:

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team partners with Parkland leadership at all levels in our Drive to Zero, ensuring a safe work environment that protects our workers, customers, and the environment. HSE resources support Parkland operations across Canada, the US, and the Caribbean. Our broad responsibilities include HSE risk assessment, safety and health program development and governance, emergency management, HSE regulatory compliance, workers compensation and return to work, and environmental management services. The primary focus of this position is to provide analytical, reporting, and administrative support to the HSE team for a busy, Burnaby based Refinery

Responsibilities:

  • Support Safety and Loss Prevention (SLP) process:
    • Develop stewardship reports.
    • Provide Cority implementation and application user support in collaboration with HSE Director, Occupational & Process Safety Manager & Field Safety Specialists.
    • Develop and maintain SLA tools (SLAs) within the application to support all departments as needed.
  • Prepare monthly safety meeting templates for refinery safety meetings (SLA findings, bulletins, monthly focus areas).
  • Collect and organize data for Refinery's monthly safety performance spreadsheets (employee and contractor) in collaboration with Occ. & PSM team.
  • Format, track and communicate RI updates.
  • Schedule, facilitate and track external audits with Refinery Leadership and auditor, collaborating with subject matter experts to capture action items from audits.
  • Manage and update several HSE SharePoint Sites (HSE department, Emergency Response & Plant Protection, PRBC Incident Command Team), including OE process tracking. Track and update process stewardship activities (Sponsor/Advisor meeting, OE self-assessments, CIP updates).
  • Produce and distribute refinery assessment results and bimonthly reports.
  • Documentation and Regroup (Mass Notification System) support for Emergency Response Management team.
  • Assist the Sr. Emergency Response Specialist with coordinating in-person and table-top drills and provide coverage for Emergency Response Management team.
  • Coordinate and manage the Refinery's Rules and Regulations Orientation (“Indoc”) program; schedule Indoc instructors and help resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Support team, as needed, with training class scheduling and preparation (including training material preparation).
  • Support team, as needed, with meeting coordination, meeting minutes and communication (including material preparation).
  • Other duties as required to promote the HSE existing programs and continual improvement efforts.

Requirements:

  • A Degree or a Certificate in HSE and/or equivalent experience and a willingness to pursue HSE certification is preferred.
  • Role is considered an advanced vocational role and is a highly specialized industrial location. Requires broad practical work experience, in this case, 2 years of progressive experience years and a significant understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental processes.
  • Strong communications skills (written/oral) and strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to effectively use and maintain office equipment.
  • Able to lift and move boxes and tables (under 50lbs).
  • Team player, positive attitude and able to demonstrate BOLD behaviors.
  • Strong working knowledge of office administration procedures, scheduling and MS Office suite, including SharePoint.
