Our client is seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative to join our team, specializing in lumber and building materials sales to commercial contractors. The ideal candidate has a hunter mentality, strong relationship-building skills, and a proven track record of 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the commercial construction sector.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage relationships with commercial contractors, builders, and developers.
  • Prospect and generate new business through cold calling, networking, and site visits.
  • Provide product recommendations and technical support on lumber, engineered wood, and other building materials.
  • Prepare and present quotes, bids, and pricing proposals to customers.
  • Work closely with the estimating and inside sales teams to ensure accurate pricing and product availability.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and project developments to identify new sales opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong sales pipeline and achieve sales targets.
  • Conduct job site visits to ensure customer satisfaction and address any concerns.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 3 to 5 years of outside sales experience in the commercial construction or building materials industry.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, engineered wood products, and structural components.
  • Experience selling to general contractors, subcontractors, and developers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with a passion for sales.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand take-offs (preferred).
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned territory.
