Are you a detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for construction and building materials? Join our growing team as an Estimator, where you'll play a key role in shaping residential, commercial, and custom projects across Alberta and beyond.
Our client is seeking a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of Engineered Wood Products (EWP), lumber, roof and floor trusses, and general building materials. Whether you're an experienced estimator or someone with a background in carpentry, drafting, or construction looking to transition into a new challenge—this opportunity could be for you.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare accurate material take-offs, cost estimates, and quotations for EWP, lumber, trusses, and other structural building components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction plans
  • Work closely with sales, design, and operations teams to ensure estimates align with customer expectations and project goals
  • Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing and product availability
  • Assist with order processing, change orders, and project revisions as needed
  • Recommend value engineering and cost-effective solutions to clients and internal teams
  • Maintain and update project documentation and estimating software systems
What You Bring
  • Experience in estimating, construction, drafting, design, or a related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of EWP systems, lumber, trusses, and building materials
  • Familiarity with MiTek software and truss design systems is a strong asset
  • Ability to read blueprints, building codes, and construction documents
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with estimating software or AutoCAD is an asset
  • Drawing experience is a strong asset, especially for interpreting and modifying technical building plans
