The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is an integral part of our growing accounting team. You will be part of our senior accounting team overseeing a combination of AR, Credits and AP. You are exceptionally organized, keeping the big picture in mind even when working on the nitty-gritty. Critical Success Factors: * Responsible for overseeing the AR/Credits department and ensuring timeliness of cash collections, application, and processing of credits * Oversee credit applications for new customers and manage credit of existing customers * Present detailed analysis of customer aging at month-end and provide commentary to Controller * Preparation of sales reporting, rebates, and financial reporting in accordance with IFRS * Responsible for the month-end, quarter-end, year-end process, and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations * Support with AP functions and cash planning on an ad-hoc basis * Preparation of GST, PST, QST, and other related government remittances * Preparation and maintenance of various schedules and ensuring that balance sheet accounts are supported by schedules * Coaching junior team members by having weekly 1:1's * Assists auditors with year-end financial statements and tax return preparation * Optimize current accounting processes and adapt to change and growth of the company * Provide coaching and commitment to timely and ongoing feedback to the accounting team * Assists other departments with internal processes such as inventory controls/management and marketing programs * Assists with various special projects and analysis as requested by management * Ability to interact successfully with all levels of team members and external business partners * Maintain up-to-date and organized files and other records * Remain up to date on any local, provincial, and federal accounting, tax, and business regulations that affect the company Competencies: * Efficient and Effective – You have a sense of urgency and successful in time management. * Dependability – You're able to meet deadlines on a consistent basis, thrive under pressure, and know how to prioritize tasks * Initiative – You can come up with creative new ideas and seek out opportunities for development and improve processes * Technical – You have advanced level skills with Excel, Word, Outlook and have experience with ERP systems (experience in SAP Business One is an asset) * Organized – You are able to adapt and focus under pressure with changing priorities and meet deadlines * Positive attitude and team player – You are calm under pressure and care about team success while going the extra mile for customers and partners * Detail oriented – You are able to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks * Experience – You have a minimum of 5-year experience in accounting, AP, AR & account reconciliations.
