Our client is the Private Equity arm of a large complex global business. They are poised to grow very quickly and looking for "a hands on" Director of Finance to act as the right hand to the CFO. The candidate will have direct experience in all aspects of financial activities and internal control systems, including design, review, implementation, and monitoring of accounting and operations throughout the business. The role will include a wide variety of responsibilities including reporting on various investments, budgeting /forecasting, and special projects.

The candidate will have direct experience in all aspects of financial activities and internal control systems, including design, review, implementation, and monitoring of accounting and operations throughout the business. The role will include a wide variety of responsibilities including reporting on various investments, budgeting /forecasting, and special projects.

Responsibilities of the Director of Finance is as follows but not limited to:

  • Assist in means to streamline reporting, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and payroll for a complex family business, investment management, property management, administrative, and other capacities
  • Creates periodic financial reports to clients regarding personal financial matters, including cash planning and budget variances for individuals and entities, as well as all holdings on a consolidated basis
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for a variety of entities
  • Oversee the preparation of HST returns, tax instalments and other government filings
  • Prepares full-cycle budgets; establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
  • Directs internal controls for management of cash and securities, including procedures for settlement, reconciliation and administration of investments and trusts in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the reconciliation of intercompany balances between multiple entities on a regular basis
  • Maintain and update chart of accounts in the general ledger for multiple entities

  • You must be a CPA, CA and comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a casual, hardworking business environment
  • Ideally you have trained at one of the Big 4 accounting firms
  • Experience working with a variety of clients of different sizes would be considered a strong asset, including both large private ( owner managed ) companies, and as well as HNW individuals
