Job Summary
The Manager, Marketing and Activations, is a unique role focused on developing memorable fan experiences at Ottawa Black Bears games and events in the Ottawa region.
Key responsibilities include conceptualizing, supporting and executing game themes, marketing initiatives, development camps and giveaways.
The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude, with a passion to create meaningful moments for fans of the Ottawa Black Bears and guests at Canadian Tire Centre. This role requires attendance at all home game days and events outside standard business hours.
Main Responsibilities
Activations Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar of events for all Ottawa Black Bears home games, fan events and youth development clinics
- Conceptualize, plan and execute all major fan activations including events such as Autograph sessions and Meet the Team events
- Develop workback schedules, identifying key milestones and deliverables within projects
- Lead development and execution of unique game themes to entertain a diverse fan base
- Exhibit flexibility and a team-first mentality, stepping in to support wherever needed
Marketing Responsibilities
- Develop and execute advertising plans for all Ottawa Black Bears initiatives (games, ticket drives, post-season, etc.) with media outlets (radio, television, digital OOH)
- Manage fan email communications, including monthly newsletters, game day emails and Season Seat Member communications
- Source and secure unique giveaway and promotional inventory
- Develop event information collateral for internal distribution
- Effectively manage budgets and adhere to production timelines
- Submit detailed creative briefs with appropriate specs and information to creative department and key stakeholders within appropriate timelines
- Support on unique, high-impact marketing initiatives aimed at growing Ottawa Black Bears fan base
Qualifications
- University or college sports marketing graduate, or related field, game day experience considered an asset
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar marketing and/or event position or equivalent education and experience
- Excellent time management skills with ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, maintaining a team mentality
- Excellent attention to detail
- Passionate about the sports and/or entertainment industry
- Bilingual (English & French) is a strong asset
