Job Summary:
The Service Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing a team of Service Technicians and support personnel who promptly and professionally address the needs of customers through the performance of onsite repair of Plumbing Mechanical systems. The Service Manager shall further be responsible for client satisfaction, retention, budget allocation and inventory control in addition to providing leadership to a team of skilled Service Technicians and support personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a productive and positive working environment.
- Oversee and direct the activities of the assigned Service Technicians and support personnel.
- Manage/review and assist with the implementation of all mechanical service administrative processes.
- Plan, schedule and prioritize service requests and preventative maintenance work as required.
- Recruit new employees, promote/coordinate training, coach existing staff and implement discipline as required.
- Conduct regular team meetings with technicians and administrative staff.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with developing business strategies, managing WIP and business unit budgets.
- Ensure efficient management of quality and cost control.
- Working with Team leads to ensure service delivery is consistent and punctual.
- Invoicing review and PM contract reviews on a regular basis.
- Participate in PM contract turnovers to ensure the correct flow of information.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong Ainsworth Safety Culture.
- Handle client complaints and invoice disputes in a professional and courteous manner.
- Lead, mentor and support the development of apprentices within the organization.
- Manage/direct the day-to-day operations of both union and non-union staff simultaneously.
- Assist with managing the service vehicle fleet and annual capital replacements.
- Regularly review and make recommendations for service billable labor rates based on local market conditions.
- Work with Sales and Estimating personnel to ensure that all clients needs are addressed in a timely manner.
- Customer visits and site reviews as required.
- Periodic quality control checks to ensure services are being provided properly.
- Work with Ainsworth warehouse personnel to control and maintain inventory supplies, tool tracking and equipment storage.
- Manage and monitor monthly service department financial performance for all service revenue streams and participate in monthly forecast meetings.
- Work closely with the Mechanical Projects team regarding project and manpower requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Ainsworth Management.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of proven supervision and leadership experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Well organized, the ability to work under pressure and meet customer/corporate deadlines.
- Journeyman Plumbing preferred, other Journeyman Certificates may be considered.
- Excellent understanding of Mechanical systems.
- Good understanding of all products and services provided by Ainsworth.
- Strong customer service skills
- A strong understanding of Mechanical industry service pricing/estimating.
