Here's what you will do as a Finance Coordinator:

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented team player Finance Coordinator to support finance operations and have a significant impact on our community. Reporting to the Director of Finance the Finance Coordinator is accountable for maintaining Accounts Payable, Receivable, GL and payroll records. Work closely with finance and other teams to support our organization's mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities of a Finance Coordinator:

Accounts Payable

  • Maintain vendors information in the accounting system and ensures control is followed.
  • Receive vendors invoices and records them in the accounting system.
  • Post all AP batches and ensures integrity of the financial system.
  • Process vendor EFT or cheque payments and send the remittance advices
  • Reconcile accounts payable records monthly and follow up with vendors.
  • Issue PO's and keep track of commitments

Accounts Receivable

  • Receive client's cheques and deposit in the bank account.
  • Record monthly revenue entries related to donations and other revenue
  • Record monthly grants received and reconcile them.
  • Follow up with all department requests related to donations or other.

Payroll

  • Update new employees in organizations third party payroll system
  • Run a bi-weekly payroll and reconcile the payroll register.
  • Oversee the absence management and time sheets and all payroll related duties.
  • Send the payroll register for approval and finalize the payroll reporting.
  • Oversee employee benefits and pension through our benefit provider online system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Month End

  • Reconcile our bank accounts monthly
  • Post bank reconciliation and perform month end duties
  • Prepare all ad hoc reports requested by the Director of Finance

Other duties

  • File all finance records in the share point
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as QB or Sage 50 and 300.
  • Run reports from the accounting software and reconcile records
  • Assist with the year-end Audit paperwork
  • Other ad-hoc reports as assigned by the supervisor
  • Support administrative duties when required.

What we are looking for in a Finance Coordinator

  • 1-3 years' hands-on experience in day-to-day accounting
  • Accounting certificate from a recognized Canadian College
  • Computer skills and good working knowledge of accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization is an asset
  • Ability to manage time according to established priorities with a results-oriented mindset
  • Strong desire to achieve key objectives
  • High level of critical and logical thinking and analysis
  • A self-starter with a proactive approach and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong attention to details
