Job Overview
Reporting to the Athletic & Wellness Director, this person will ensure safe operation of indoor and outdoor swimming pools and surrounding areas of The Boulevard Club. Responsible for supervising aquatics team and administering of all activities including prevention of accidents, performance of first aid and water rescue, at the swimming pools in order to provide quality aquatic instruction and services to the membership and the guests of the Club.
Specific duties would include, but are not limited to:
- Develops, effectively administers, and regularly refreshes vibrant programming and events for all age groups, and schedules for activities and facilities.
- Builds rapport with parents, children and youth as the Club's leader for general programming, events and instructions
- Leads and mentors employees, sets out clear work schedules and performance expectations for each, observes employee conduct and performance and personally facilitates an evaluation review with each of them on a regular basis.
- Keeps abreast of all changes to rules and regulations of the Red Cross, Life Saving Society, and any other organizing body in Aquatics that The Boulevard Club may be associated with as determined by the Club.
- Ensures compliance with all standards and conventions of municipal, provincial and federal health & safety regulations as they apply to Aquatics sections.
- Fully certified as a teaching professional in Aquatics in Canada and maintains current certifications as such. In addition, they work to continually improve their and other Aquatics employees' professional level and club leadership competencies.
- Ensures proper and adequate pools, indoor gym, and drop-off center maintenance.
- Prepares financial and statistical program reports concerning programs, costs, participant numbers and equipment and facility use.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Certified Pool Operator
- National Lifeguard (NL) is a must, NL Instructor/Examiner & NL Instructor-Trainer is an asset
- LSS Lifesaving and Swim Instructor, Level 3 Coaching
- LSS Aquatics Supervisor Training
- LSS Aquatics Safety Inspector
- Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Recreation and/or related University Degree.
- Experience teaching and/or instructing children's programs.
- High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification.
- Certificate, First Aid / CPR / AED is a must, First Aid Instructor/Examiner & First Aid Instructor-Trainer is an asset
- Vulnerable Sector Screening (within past 6 months).
