PURCHASING MANAGER
SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing the procurement process, which includes identifying necessary goods and services, researching and evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of items while optimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
Supervising and mentoring of procurement team. Assigning tasks, providing guidance and assessing skill sets and development.
Developing and implementing purchasing strategies to ensure the company acquires goods and services at the best possible price, quality and delivery.
Preparing KPI reports supporting production requirements to ensure continuity of the material requirements.
Driving decisions that support internal/external programs, customers, and product/order commit dates.
Analyzing spending patterns, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing strategies to reduce procurement costs.
Monitoring inventory levels, forecast demand and plan purchasing orders to maintain optimal stock levels.
Managing supplier's critical path delivery requirements in support of key program milestones
Establishing and maintaining critical working relationships with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance and Quality Assurance functional business areas.
Leading contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms regarding pricing, delivery schedules and quality standards.
Managing and driving supplier development and management activity to achieve consistent cost reductions (PPV), lead time reductions, and quality improvements with leveraged buying strategies
Contributing to the fulfilment of budget and strategic plans of the company within your control.
Ensuring all procurement activities adhere to legal and ethical standards.
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or equivalent, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role with direct reports
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Proven experience in procurement and supplier management
- Knowledge of market trends and sourcing strategies
- Professional ASCM designation in Supply Chain Management (SCMP) desired
- Proficient in data analysis and supplier performance metrics
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office tool suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems, experience in JD Edwards is preferred.
- Knowledge of composite based products is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal customers and suppliers.
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and procedures is required.
- Adaptable, able to work in a constant change and dynamic production environment supporting high mix of SKUs.
