The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Health and Safety department within the Metals division for a Field Safety Advisor located in Fort Saskatchewan. The purpose of this position is to support in implementing a safety business plan for the Corefco and Sherritt Fort Site organizations, ensuring alignment with the broader Metals strategy. This includes facilitating the resolution of safety issues or inquiries and offering mentorship and safety coaching to our site team.

In this role, you will be accountable for:
- Providing mentorship, coaching, and daily field support, including hazard assessments, inspections, and project oversight.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices through evaluation and improvement.
- Leading incident investigations, regulatory reporting, and data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Developing and communicating health and safety concepts effectively across all levels using various communication methods and technology.
- Supporting contractor management, shutdowns, and turnaround activities while maintaining accurate OHS records.
- Advising frontline workers and leadership on risk management, regulatory compliance, and safety program implementation to enhance workplace safety culture.
- 5+ years of related experience or equivalent education and training.
- Professional safety designation is an asset; CRSP preferred
- Experience in energy, minerals, or chemical production industries.
- Strong understanding of safety legislation, process safety, and contractor management.
- Experience working with regulators, industry standards, and external stakeholders.
- Incident investigation training and knowledge of continuous improvement practices.
