ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Parts Maintenance Specialist will act as the primary liaison between Truck and Coach Technicians and the Stores department, ensuring efficient parts lookup, cross-referencing, ordering, tracking, and service kit assembly for Motor Coaches, while proficiently managing Fleet Management Information Systems to allow technicians to focus on productivity.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow up and expedite orders to ensure prompt delivery.
- Ensure Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts are ordered and follow up with Buyer when necessary.
- Collaborate with Buyer for defective parts under warranty and emergency parts needs.
- Assist in identifying and requisitioning non-inventory parts.
- Operate the required equipment and tools such as hand and pump carts, to move parts from staging area to technician bay.
- Research specifications, quotes and purchases for Motor Coach Fleet parts.
- Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to secure necessary materials.
- Provide support and relief to the Maintenance Supervisor
- Address issues and facilitate solutions to keep work on schedule.
- Review inventory reports and KPIs to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Identify slow-moving, aging, and obsolete inventory.
- Ensure critical parts for new equipment are stocked.
- Review parts history and stores requisitions using the EAM software.
- Work with Asset Analyst and divisional leaders to review reports and KPI's and action where necessary to ensure data integrity is maintained.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and documentation.
- Update work orders and provide updates at morning toolbox meetings.
- Monitor progress against weekly schedules.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Parts Technician (240P) trade certificate or red seal certification or equivalent experience in a Warehouse/Stores environment
- Principles of Buying and Inventory Management courses through organizations such as NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement or PMAC: Purchasing Management Association of Canada are required
- 3 to 5 years' experience in an industrial shop maintenance environment, particularly in a data management intensive role
- Related experience in heavy duty equipment, fleet parts sourcing and acquisition
- 3 to 5 years' experience in transit/motor coach maintenance is preferred
- Experience with asset management software or work order system
- Experience operating within a unionized environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate and present results
- Coordination and planning skills.
- Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated clerical ability, records keeping, and keyboarding skills
- Proficient in budgeting and financial analysis
- Skilled in conflict resolution and excellent customer service abilities
- Valid BZ or CZ Driver's License is considered an asset
- Commitment to health and safety
