The Senior Piping Material Engineer participates in the design of facility piping and pipelines in the energy sector from inception to completion. Your duties include:

• Reviewing Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs) and Material Selection Reports (MSRs) with respect to piping materials used for piping and pipeline design.
• Developing new and reviewing existing piping line class specifications
• Providing comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with project requirements
• Exercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications
• Reviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking project tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management
• Supervising the various piping engineering activities involved in the piping and pipeline design
• Performing detailed piping engineering calculations
• Participating in design reviews and HAZOPs as required
• Providing technical guidance to junior staff
• Interfacing with client representatives
• Maintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards
• Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements
• Applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasks
• Adhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)
• Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standards
• Assigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy
• Actively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of work
• Preparing or assisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposals
• Providing construction support
• Authenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required
• Completing and reviewing piping data in the line lists
• Preparing and reviewing engineering work packages
• Preparing and reviewing manual valve and piping specialty item lists
• Preparing and reviewing valve and specialty item datasheets
• Preparing scope changes and estimating hours
• Preparing and reviewing tie-in lists
• Checking piping isometric materials
• Performing and reviewing maximum allowable flange rating and wall thickness calculations
• Preparing and issuing piping registration packages and responding to ABSA clarification requests
• Preparing and reviewing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations
• Preparing material take-offs (MTO) for piping, valves, fittings and specialty items or check MTO if created from the 3D model
• Preparing and reviewing commodity purchase specifications (pipe, fittings, etc.)
• Providing input to P&ID for manual valve and specialty item tagging
• Performing other duties as requested

• Ten years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry
• Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering or applied science
• Be fully familiar with the applicable industry Codes including piping materialss material selection, pressure rating, wall thickness calculation, pressure testing, insulation, coating and tracing
• Be an expert in valve selection and trims for various service conditions
• Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel
• P.Eng. registration with APEGA
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
• Self-motivated and efficient in time management
• Strong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards
• Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits

Ten years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five or more years of experience in the energy industry.
