Job Summary:

The Accounting Intern will assist the accounting department in day-to-day operations and projects, with a focus on clearing backlog in the CAPEX projects in SAP. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn about financial record-keeping, reporting, and analysis in a real-world business setting. The intern will gain exposure to various accounting functions and assist in maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

Financial Operations

  • Assist in clearing backlog of closed projects in SAP for asset capitalization
  • Data entry for lease schedules (Automobiles, POP and NPOPs, Ducts and Poles, Colocations etc.)
  • Support the department with filing, organizing financial documents
  • Other ad hoc as needed

Month-end Closing:

  • Assist team in preparing accurate and timely journal entries for month-end closing.
  • When opportunity exists – the individual may assist the team in balance sheet account reconciliations. This can include, but is not limited to reconciliations for banks, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, inventory, capital assets, and accrued liabilities.

Tax, Audit Compliance:

  • May assist sales tax returns.
  • May assist in filing compliance documents with relevant Canadian regulatory and government bodies (e.g., CRTC, CFA, CRA)

Qualifications:

  • Student, currently pursuing bachelor's degree in business/accounting
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Great attitude, looking to learn and grow their accounting knowledge.
