Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Digital Solutions Architect position in the Technology & Digital Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Business Value Delivery, the Digital Solutions Architect is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and evolution of the organization's digital solutions architecture to align with business objectives and industry best practices. This role evaluates existing systems, conducts assessments, and recommends scalable and efficient digital solutions to enhance technical capabilities, optimize technology investments, and support long-term innovation. This position will maintain an inventory of current systems to support governance and strategic decision-making while conducting assessments, fit-gap analyses, and architectural reviews, collaborating across departments and with external partners to ensure integration and alignment with organizational goals. The role also identifies opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, to improve operational efficiency and decision-making. The role leads and manages assigned projects, including planning, budgeting, risk management, and reporting, while also contributing to strategic planning and policy development. Additionally, this role fosters relationships with software vendors and partners, ensures training and resources are available for staff, and continuously seeks opportunities to enhance digital capabilities to drive business value.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Administration (with a focus on Information Systems or Technology Management), or a related discipline.
  • TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect would be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of system design and architecture experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of cloud computing experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience with software development.
  • A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience with AI and machine learning.
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
A starting annual salary of $90,500 to $97,900 with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $114,500, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
