Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is a federal program committed to help young people gain employment information, skills and experience. This program aims to support young people, particularly those from communities facing barriers to employment, as they transition into the labour market.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- What you'll be making - $17.20 per hour
- When you'll work - 35 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks; within a rotating schedule that includes days, afternoons, and evenings
- Your pension plan - Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
- Responding to in-person and phone referrals for service.
- Working collaboratively with referral sources and individuals served to ensure a smooth transition to services
- Providing information and support regarding resources found within both the broader mental health system and the community in general
- Establishing a therapeutic relationship to maximize the benefits of engagement between the staff person and the client
- Ensuring the effective flow of relevant information between co-workers as well as to individuals served and site visitors
- Creating new client files and maintaining the discharged file system
- Filing clinical documentation into client paper health record
- Organizing diagnostic appointments with clients
- Validate health card numbers
- Other duties as assigned to ensure smooth flow of operations with First Contact team.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.
We require the following qualifications:
- Canada Summer Jobs requirements:
- Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and am legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- (Note: International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.)
- Post-secondary education completed or in progress within social work, social services, mental health and/or addictions
- Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle
- Ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
- First Aid / CPR
- Insurance adequate for transporting clients
- Knowledge of mental health and recovery
- Knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge of computerized documentation methods
- Applied Suicide Intervention Training
- Health and safety knowledge
- Ability to recognize and guide potential conflict situations
