Job Description

As a Signaling and Communications Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, availability, and reliability of railway operations. You will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various line-side signaling and communication subsystems, including:

  • CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control)

  • CCTV (Video Surveillance)

  • Public Address (PA), Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS), Intercom (IAC)

  • Networks (SCADA, telephony, access control)

  • Signaling equipment, server rooms, and related assets

This field-oriented position supports a 24/7 railway operation on a continuous seven-day rotating shift cycle, and may involve operating motorized equipment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Comply with and promote strict Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards at all times

  • Perform complex inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting on line-side systems

  • Manage and document all maintenance activities and work orders in the maintenance management system

  • Implement technical modifications and system upgrades in the field

  • Support maintenance of other related infrastructure (e.g., ventilation systems, pumps, switches, safety devices)

  • Interpret and work from “as-built” technical drawings and schematics

  • Supervise or monitor subcontractor activities when needed

  • Actively participate in emergency response preparedness and intervene in major incidents or system failures

Qualifications

Beyond your technical skills, we value your initiative, attention to detail, and your ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.

  • Education in IT, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related technical field

  • Relevant experience in an industrial or railway environment (asset)

  • Strong knowledge of signaling systems, network infrastructures, automation, and electrical systems

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficiency with maintenance software and IT tools

  • Valid Class G driver's license (additional licenses for trailer/truck operation are considered an asset)

  • Strong commitment to EHS standards and field safety practices
