We are currently looking to expand our engineering consulting team and would like to add an experienced individual familiar with the world of safety engineering. The successful candidate for this position would ideally have hands-on experience with industrial environments, familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, and exposure to engineering consulting work.
This position will provide exposure to a multitude of industries, offer a mix of consulting, design, and on- site work, and will specifically challenge your ability to clearly and effectively communicate technically information.
A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required for this position. Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical engineering designation is preferred.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Generally speaking, our work revolves around answering the question: Are we compliant and are our employees safe? If not, what do we need to do?
Working within a multidisciplinary team of Professional Engineers your primary responsibilities will be focused around providing industrial safety expertise to our clients, including services ranging from regulatory assessments related to Ontario regulations, designing compliant solutions for deficient systems, facilitating risk assessment exercises, and coordinating multistage integration projects.
Other more specific examples of responsibilities include:
Producing technical reports of findings as per PEO and regulatory guidelines.
Conduct on-site assessments of a wide variety of equipment and processes with respect to current Canadian and International safety standards.
Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required procedures.
Communicate with clients and assist with developing project proposals.
Receive training in conducting Pre-Start Health & Safety Reviews and other assessments in accordance with the Occupational Heath & Safety Act.
Qualifications:
Engineering degree with a focus on Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics and a Professional Engineer designation is required.
Experience with Ontario Regulations is required: O. Reg. 851 (specifically Section 7), O. Reg. 213/07, O. Reg. 332/12.
Experience with relevant safety standards is required. E.g., CSA Z432, CSA C22.1, ISO 13849, NFPA 30, NFPA 79, etc.
Experience in the preparation of detailed documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, and reports) is required.
Experience with PLC's, electrical schematics, and control systems is required.
Experience in the design and integration of safety control systems is considered an asset.
Proficiency with, or experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is considered an asset.
Hands-on experience in an industrial setting is considered an asset.
Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills, specifically while handling multiple tasks.
Professional Skills:
Proficiency with SolidWorks and / or AutoCad is considered an asset.
