Location: We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager for the food service operation at the BC Place Stadium.

Sodexo Live! is the Official Supplier of Food and Beverage Services to BC Place Stadium. BC Place is a multi-purpose stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Located at the north side of False Creek, it is owned and operated by the BC Pavilion Corporation, a Crown corporation of the province. Home to BC Lions, Vancouver White Caps, Concerts and Live events, the facility hosts welcomes hundreds of thousands of fans each year, while generating significant economic activity for the Province.

Principal Function:

The Assistant General Manager serves as a right hand to the General Manager and will be directly responsible for leading the development and growth of the premium services department. As a visible and senior member of the of the unit-level Leadership Team, they will exemplify and display unquestionable ethical conduct in both business and personal dealings, as they are responsible to model Sodexo Live!'s vision and values, ensuring in all ways for the customer, employees, the industry and the local community that Sodexo Live! is held in the highest regard.

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for managing and maximizing the productivity of the premium services department: including suites, restaurants, clubs spaces and catering operations. They will provide support and hands-on assistance to plan, prepare, oversee, report and reconcile the unit's on-going business activities to ensure its commercial success. You will lead a team dedicated to delivering exceptional dining and hospitality experiences to our guests, suite holders, and corporate clients during events and games.

The Assistant General Manager will contribute to Sodexo Live!'s goal to be #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through the performance of activities geared toward the creation of an energized and positive work environment for all venue staff. Working in close partnership with the unit's various divisions and key department heads, the Assistant General Manager will create, lead and execute food and beverage experiences that exceed guest expectations and maximize revenue while controlling expenses.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to elevate premium hospitality and catering services, ensuring alignment with the stadium's brand and enhancing the fan experience.
  • Partner with operations to support unit efficiency through insights, analysis, and recommendations on guest service, menu development, creative event planning, and revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suite holders, corporate clients, and VIP guests by understanding preferences and delivering personalized service.
  • Oversee premium service delivery-including suite catering, VIP lounges, and exclusive dining-ensuring consistency, quality, and guest satisfaction.
  • Lead all aspects of catering operations, including menu planning, food preparation, presentation, and service, while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets for premium and catering services, optimizing revenue through pricing strategies, cost controls, and upselling opportunities.
  • Collaborate with event operations teams to ensure flawless execution of premium services during games, concerts, and special events, proactively addressing any service challenges.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or appropriate combination of education and experience to support on-the-job effectiveness.
  • 5+ years of previous operations/ senior leadership experience within a diverse, contract-managed food and beverage environment, to include successful management of a large staff and focus on exceptional client and customer service.
  • Experience managing contact food & beverage with a mix of experience leading banquets/catering and concessions/retail will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with past P&L responsibility of at least $10M (CAD)
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and general workplace safety standards with knowledge of Health Department requirements.
  • Technologically savvy, with high proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated success in interfacing with a variety of organizational functions and divisions to accomplish tasks.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of retail and catering operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly quartered environment
