Job DescriptionTeam Summary
The PXD+D team at Visa (Product Experience Design & Digital) team, serves as the Innovation arm of the consulting and analytics group (VCA). PXD+D solves complex business problems through a customer lens, architecting powerful insights that drive the user experience of our clients' products & services.
The Director of Research will help Visa's network of clients accelerate their innovation agenda and transform their customer experience, uncovering customer attitudes, behaviors, and needs. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on deriving insights from data and translating these into meaningful stories and business outcomes. This role is client facing.
This individual will be responsible for selling, delivering and implementing high value innovation consulting projects with a diverse set of clients. The individual should be able to work collaboratively across different capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead innovation consulting engagements end-to-end (from selling, scoping, research, client delivery and go-to-market)
- Design and lead mixed methods research studies to understand user behavior, attitudes, and needs, utilizing a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Manage vendor partners, overseeing rigor and quality of work products.
- Synthesize complex findings into compelling stories, making it easy for clients to action on data-driven recommendations
- Act as the ambassador for consumer insights and quantitative research, identifying new service offerings, methods, and tools to elevate our mixed-method approach to research
- Articulate the benefit of different research methods in addressing client asks to both internal partners and clients
- Mentor junior team members on projects, assigning specific tasks, defining timeline, and reviewing deliverables.
- Energize and improve the status quo using creativity and intelligent, calculated risks to deliver new products and processes that surpass clients' expectations, demonstrating new methods, capabilities, and mindsets.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
At least 10+ years of work experience, including experience in a role with responsibility for sizing, scoping of consumer insights/ market research/ quantitative research studies (ex: choice-based modelling, concept testing, and segmentation and personas development).
Analytical thinker, creatively confident, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to distinguish insights from findings and present those insights in a way that inspires action.
Strong understanding of human-centered design
Experience vetting, collaborating with, and managing research vendor partners
Ability to be client-facing, specifically to design, facilitate and execute on complex innovation consulting engagements

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
