Entuitive is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer, based in our Vancouver office. Take the opportunity to learn more about the structural engineering service at Entuitive. We are passionate about our work and the talented individuals that get to deliver complex projects on a regular basis.
While this posting is for a Senior Engineer, we will also be considering candidates for various ownership roles based on technical experience and capabilities.
What will you do?
- Responsible for medium to large-size projects with diverse levels of complexity, from pursuit stage to the end of project life-cycle.
- Structural engineering design and calculations for all structural components including columns, beams, slabs, foundations, and lateral systems from the beginning to end of a project lifecycle.
- Design and engineering using materials such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold formed structural steel, and wood. Experience with Mass Timber is considered an asset.
- Manage and develop project scope, budget, staffing and schedule
- Works to assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
- Conduct field reviews and other contract administrative duties.
- Drafts project-related correspondence as needed.
- Lead internal project design teams, including delegating appropriate design tasks to and overseeing the technical production of the design engineers.
- Lead client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
- Conducts review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
- Effectively uses QA tools and completes checklists and submits them to the project engineer as required.
- Mentors junior staff with design and delivery elements of a project to ensure standards are upheld.
- Monitoring of internal project costs and review of monthly invoicing
Requirements
What do you need to succeed?
- An engineering degree with a focus on civil and structural engineering, coupled with 10 or more years of professional experience in the AEC industry.
- Professional engineering status in the Province of British Columbia.
- Registered as a Struct. Eng., or actively working towards certification
- Knowledge of the appropriate building codes.
- Strong project management capability with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software (SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
- Knowledge and interest related to embodied carbon is considered an asset
- Knowledge and interest related to Mass Timber design is considered an asset
Benefits
Compensation
The range for this position is between $95,000 to $135,000 annually (+ eligibility to participate in our profit sharing program) and is based upon experience, qualifications, location, and education. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the British Columbia Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful British Columbia applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in British Columbia or perform the position from British Columbia.
