DeNova is an early-stage biotechnology company on a mission to create sustainable food solutions through microbial fermentation. Were currently preparing to bring our first product, Psomi - a nutrient-dense, all-natural Microbial Protein - to market, and were building the systems to support responsible, scalable production. As a Senior Quality Specialist, youll play a critical role in shaping our quality management framework, ensuring our products and processes meet the highest standards for safety, compliance, and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of DeNovas Quality Management System (QMS), aligned with GMP principles and regulatory best practices.
  • Enhance and maintain document control processes for technical and non-technical areas to ensure accessibility, version control, and traceability across all quality documentation.
  • Prepare DeNova for audits and inspections by developing inspection-readiness protocols and internal training programs.
  • Monitor quality metrics and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on relevant regulations (Canadas Feed Act and Regulations, EU Hygiene and and US CFRs) impacting microbial protein in food and feed applications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across the organization, supporting quality principles, documentation best practices, and regulatory preparedness.
  • Partner with stakeholders across R&D, Pilot Plant, Scale-up and Operations, and Executive teams to align quality systems with DeNovas strategic goals.
  • Support shipping documentation and sample tracking workflows as part of commercialization readiness.
  • Foster a quality-first culture through cross-functional training and communication.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of quality assurance and document control experience in a regulated environment (food, feed, biotech, or related industries).
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing QMS frameworks and document control systems.
  • Familiarity with GMP, ISO 9001, or other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with an ability to streamline complex documentation workflows.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in microbial fermentation, food/feed production, or biotech manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to microbial protein and aquafeed applications.
  • Experience preparing for regulatory audits or inspections, and/or contributing to regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with quality risk management and key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality systems.
  • Experience implementing training programs and cultivating a quality-first culture across teams.
