Management

  • Lead quality assurance activities for the site, ensuring Quality System requirements are documented, implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure work is performed safety and in accordance with OHS standards ; that any hazards are identified, reported and controlled ; and that workers use the prescribed protective equipment
  • Ensure efficient operation of the department in areas of production, quality, food safety, staffing and training
  • Act as on site representative for ISO 9001, IFS PAC Secure and FSC related systems which include any related reviews and risk assessment
  • Ensure monthly reports are completed and accurate and that any opportunity for cost savings is explored and reported to Plant Management
  • Support the Quality Coordinator – Audit Services who acts as corporate management representative for Quality (ISO 9001), Food Safety (IFS PAC secure), FSC and Ethics (SMETA)
  • Partner with Operations, Sales and Customer Service to reduce non-conforming product, optimize quality and food safety and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Conduct Quality Work Group (QWG) meetings to resolve problems and focus on continuous improvement
  • Maintain and enforce quality standards including food safety (GMP) and good housekeeping protocols ; supporting operations in customer and third party audits
  • Foster strong relationships and communication with internal and external departments and stakeholders
  • Plan, conduct and document all quality related training as per prescribed frequency
  • Back-up for the position is the Quality Managers / Coordinators from alternate plants when required or as designated by the Senior Manager of Quality.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, training or equivalent work experience
  • Quality Systems Management or Supervisory experience within the Corrugated packaging sector is highly desired ; experience in a high volume manufacturing environment is a prerequisite
  • Strong knowledge, training and experience related to ISO 9001, IFS PAC secure, FSC and SMETA standards
  • Internal Auditor training and experience is preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and Corrugated business systems
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and critical thinking skills are essential
  • Ability to organize and prioritize essential tasks to achieve results
