Job Summary

The Manager, Investor Experience, working in collaboration with the Investor Experience and Business Development teams, under guidance from the Director, Real Estate and Investor Experience, is focused on triaging and executing bespoke client service and leading investor events for the overall purpose of expanding and attracting companies, capital and talent.

This is a full-time permanent position with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Investor Relationship Management

  • Manage the investor relationship and leads team to establish timely touchpoints.
  • Build strategic partnerships with local business leaders and other key partners.
  • Network with others, providing referrals and reciprocating introductions with partners and industry executives.
  • Support the creation of investor experience plans to strengthen the industry value proposition.

Project & Event Management

  • Lead the planning and execution of bespoke investor events and activations.
  • Manage inbound investor-focused events and activations.
  • Oversee all event logistics including venue, programming, AV, F&B, client gifts, etc.
  • Develop detailed project plans and workback schedules.
  • Plan events in consultation with relevant stakeholders and ensure regular communication between teams.
  • Continuously evaluate results vs. objectives of events to inform future service offerings and elevate execution.

Investor Services Delivery & Development

  • Triage and execute investor services (e.g., talent, real estate, grants, funding, local ecosystem navigation).
  • Support the development of new Investor Experience service offerings for companies looking to expand, locate or invest in Calgary.
  • Manage delivery of bespoke investor services across multiple sectors.
  • Provide direction to the team on service support within specific timeframes; escalates to the Director as needed.

Strategic Intelligence & Market Development

  • Compile business intelligence and data to support enhanced investment into Calgary.
  • Highlight business success stories and industry developments for marketing initiatives.
  • Support market development programs to profile Calgarys value proposition to global markets.
  • Build strategic partnerships with local business leaders and other key stakeholders to gather the best possible corporate market intelligence.
  • Participate in the development of strategies to enhance the local talent pool and deepen the sales pipeline.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communications

  • Work with the communications team to obtain social and communications support, including speech and presentations.
  • Work with co-agencies of the City of Calgary and with partner organizations to ensure alignment, leverage solutions and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • In harmonization with the team, develop a local and international network of private, public, and government stakeholders to assist with all aspects of the FDI strategy (e.g. Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), City of Calgary, etc.)

Analytical Thinking & Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate the success of events through tracking, analysis, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Stay current with local, national, and international industry trends.
  • Continuously assess service outcomes to inform best practices and future improvements.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Business, Social Science, Communications or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Administration, Management, Commerce or Economic Development would be an asset
