Job Details
Wage range: $43.17 to $55.39
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location: CASA House
Union: In-scope
FTE: 1.0 FTE (36.25 hours/week)
Status: Temporary (12 months)
About the Role:
CASA House is a live-in program for teens who need support with significant mental health and/or addictions challenges. Teens stay at CASA House for an average of four months. The program involves parents and caregivers as active participants in treatment. Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy, social and life skills training, and on-site schooling in small classroom settings.
The Mental Health Therapist will:
  • Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality, trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens and families.
  • Help caregivers with children with exceptional needs build specialized parenting skills.
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
  • Provide clinical input to Therapy Support Navigators providing case management and wrap-around care for patients and families.
  • Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.
  • Coordinate consultation to others therapists or external partners as appropriate.
  • Provide supervision or preceptorship for student placements.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation) or occupational therapy.
  • Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of and experience in supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
  • Knowledge of and experience in bottom-up and top-down modalities is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
