Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is a co-ed independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria, BC, Canada. Lab Technician

Position Overview

The Lab Technician is responsible for managing the science prep room, ensuring compliance with WHMIS regulations with regards to labelling, handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials. This role supports our science teachers with their daily laboratory preparations and tasks and assists with lab activities. Additionally, working directly with students, the Lab Technician provides supervision of International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP Internal Assessment labs, collaborative science projects and other labs such as the Middle Years (MYP) Personal Project, DP Extended Essay and science fair, and supports students with their independent science research. What Youll Bring

You will have two years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A B.C. or Independent teaching certificate, or experience as a teaching assistant, would be an asset. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential to forming strong connections with staff, students and teachers. You will possess a passion for your field and be highly reflective and committed to continuous professional growth and improvement. WHMIS certification and experience handling, storing and disposing of chemicals and making solutions, are required. A valid B.C. drivers license would also be considered an asset.
