Position Description
Touchstone Institute is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy IT Summer Student to join our team for Summer 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for a student passionate about software development to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, mission-driven organization supporting the assessment and education of high-quality health care human resources.
As an IT Summer Student, you will work closely with our Senior Engineer to support the design and development of digital tools and platforms, including the Touchstone Institute Dashboard, the MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) Platform, and the General Portal Dashboard. This role is ideal for someone looking to apply their technical skills in a collaborative environment while contributing to projects that enhance healthcare professional readiness across Ontario.
Key Accountabilities
Collaborate with the Senior Engineer to develop mock-ups and prototypes for the Touchstone Institute Dashboard.
Assist in the ongoing development and optimization of the MMI and General Portal platforms.
Monitor and support the organizations Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines to ensure smooth builds and deployments.
Contribute to front-end and back-end development tasks across web and mobile platforms.
Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and code reviews.
Document work, provide feedback, and contribute ideas for improved system functionality and user experience.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Knowledge and hands-on experience in software development (front-end, back-end, and/or mobile).
Familiarity with coding languages and frameworks such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python, or similar.
UI/UX design skills or experience building user interfaces is considered a strong asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
We follow a hybrid work model with two designated in-office days: Tuesdays and Wednesdays.Successful candidates must be available to work on-site during these days.
