There is one Full-Time Permanent Recruiter position available starting on May 12, 2025, working 37.5 hours per week.
Your Role:
Works closely with the Human Resources team and leaders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the hiring needs for each department and each role and lead the implementation of consistent recruitment practices across the Agency. This position helps to maintain a culture that attracts, develops, and retains employees, from an equity and inclusion perspective. Manages the recruiting lifecycle across a variety of open roles from screening resumes, meeting 1:1 with candidates to verify skills, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference checks. Fosters relationships with candidates and manages a talent pool of qualified applicants for when positions become available. Collaborates with teams to design, refine, and implement innovative recruitment strategies for their departments. Supports with job description development, and job grading as required. Remains active with job boards, social networks, and platforms for finding diverse candidates. Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Agency.
Tasks:
Recruitment:
- Develops relationships with leaders to build awareness of their departments hiring needs and leads the implementation of consistent and equitable recruitment practices across the Agency.
- Works alongside agency leaders and HR Manager to establish, implement and assesses annual goals and targets for hiring needs.
- Partners with hiring leader to understand their staffing needs, establish criteria for candidate selection, and provide regular updates on recruitment progress.
- Collaborates with organizations, community groups, and professional associations that focus on promoting diversity and inclusion to tap into their networks and reach potential candidates.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and best practices in recruitment and online job postings
- Pre-screens applicants: reviews resumes and applications to assess candidates' qualifications and match them with job requirements.
- Conducts initial interviews to explore the candidates skills, experience, and alignment with the Agency's values.
- Provides consultation and advice to leaders on hiring practices, first point of Schedules and coordinates interviews between candidates and interview panel members.
- Cultivates relationships with potential candidates to build a pool of qualified candidates for current and future job openings.
- Communicates with candidates regarding their application status and provides constructive feedback when necessary.
- Attends networking events, career fairs, and industry conferences that attract diverse attendees and maintain a positive reputation in the job market.
- Writes job posting descriptions on relevant platforms; Seeks new platforms to reach a diverse pool of candidates.
- Looks beyond specific qualifications and focuses on transferable skills and experiences that candidates possess; Assesses how skills could be applied to the role and the potential value they could bring to the organization.
- Provides candidates with information related to the position to ensure they are aware of expectations (i.e., working in a 24/7 environment, weekday, weekend, and night shifts, etc.)
- Emphasizes positive opportunities for staff at the Agency including opportunities for learning, growth, and professional development.
- Supports with onboarding processes as needed.
- Supports with offboarding process including exit interviews.
Administrative:
- Uses the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) to collaborate with leaders during the recruitment process and track candidate progress, review resumes, and communicate with candidates.
- Actively searches for potential candidates through various channels such as job boards, social media, networking events, and employee referrals.
- Assist leaders and HR Generalists with the development and writing of Job Descriptions.
- Maintains and updates the job description files; Supports with job description development, and job evaluation.
- With support from agency leaders, HR Manager and internal and/or external equity consultants, closely examines intersectionality of equity strategy and recruitment strategy; makes recommendations for modifications and prepares and writes revisions for job postings and job description files.
- Reviews and makes recommended changes to policies and procedures related to recruitment.
- Responds to and redirects employment inquiries to appropriate departments.
- Maintain database of candidate records, including active and passive prospects.
- Remains current on job posting platforms to reach a diverse pool of candidates.
- Tracks and analyzes recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, recruitment trends, and identifies areas for improvement; Makes data-driven decisions.
- Compiles statistical information, with support from HR Coordinator; to review turnover rates and provides suggestions to strengthen employee retention where applicable.
Your Talents and Experience:
Two or more years of experience in recruitment or human resources. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills. Alignment with the agencys commitment to antiracism and anti-oppression and able to build authentic relationships with front-line staff, leaders, team members and community partners. Strong knowledge of job boards and effective recruitment strategies. Proven success in conducting interviews using various methods (phone, video, email, in-person). Proficiency with computer and HRIS an asset. Experience in developing recruitment strategy. Desire to grow professionally with networking and ongoing training opportunities. Maintains confidentiality.
