WEISHAUPT DESIGN GROUPis a North American-based furniture retailer, manufacturer, and distributor engaged in both residential and contract markets, offering classic-contemporary designs with timeless style and enduring quality.

We are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist responsible for supporting all Human Resources activities and initiatives across Weishaupt Design Group. This candidate will report to the Associate Director of Talen and Culture.

Key responsibilities

Recruitment & Retention: Lead recruitment efforts by identifying candidate resources, developing job descriptions with hiring managers, and influencing candidate selection to attract top talent.

Onboarding & Transition: Act as the primary onboarding champion for new hires, supporting internal role transitions by understanding needs and providing necessary resources. Conduct orientation training sessions for new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary information for success

Compensation & Benefits: Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments and de-enrollments. Support benefits and compensation reviews to ensure competitive offerings.

Employee Relations & Coaching: Advise and coach management on handling performance and behavioral issues, policies, and employee processes.

Training & Development: Support the development and execution of employee training programs, source external training opportunities and speakers, and identify knowledge gaps with suggestions for correction.

Employee Engagement: Manage current programs to promote employee satisfaction and engagement. Support employee engagement strategies that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Corporate Communication: Drive internal communication strategy through various channels, including HR update emails, the internal newsfeed and updates to the companys LinkedIn page and careers website.

Policy & Compliance: Support the leadership team in researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensure best practices are followed by staying current with labour and employment legislation and HR industry best practices.

HRIS & HR Files: Manage the HRIS system, maintain employee files and other HR files, track vacation and other reporting data. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within HR processes and systems.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as requested or required to support the overall HR function.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Generalist role
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and US labour laws
  • Previous experience working with an HRIS, BambooHR preferred
  • Ability to create and build strong working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication skills oral and written including a demonstrated ability to persuade, influence and build consensus
  • Experience processing US and Canadian payroll, preferably using ADP and Ceridian (nice to have)
  • Adaptable to competing priorities and changes; roll up your sleeves approach to contributing and completing necessary tasks, big and small.
  • Demonstrated ability to think, plan, act and execute strategically
  • A creative, resourceful, energetic, and positive approach
  • An approachable demeanor and a natural leader; someone that people naturally gravitate towards
  • Present well and communicate clearly and effectively to upper management and internal departments.
  • Flexibility to think outside the box and can adjust course when appropriate new ideas or objections are raised.
  • Excellent computer skills in Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
  • CHRP or other HR designation an asset.
