Job Title: Health & Safety Analyst

Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager or their designate, the Health & Safety (H&S) Analyst supports the development, implementation, management, analysis, and auditing of the Eskay Creek Health and Safety Management System (HSMS). This role plays a key part in maintaining and improving health and safety practices across the organization.

The H&S Analyst coordinates program and procedural reviews and updates, regulatory reviews, incident documentation, corrective action tracking, and maintains H&S intranet content. They manage and analyze incident and hazard data through Skeena's INX InControl system, ensuring accurate, timely reporting. The Analyst also serves as the primary contact for H&S performance metrics and analytics, ensuring system, tool, and process accessibility via the Skeena SharePoint intranet or other web platforms.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Document & System Management

  • Administer and manage the H&S software systems, documents and databases including uploading reports, procedures and other documents to the Health and Safety Drive and SharePoint.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule to review and update critical risk documentation (policies, registers, programs, and procedures) annually.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Document Management System, software, and training.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Provide data and analysis on company safety statistics/trends by collecting, compiling, and maintaining data used for presentations in internal and external reports, identifying trends on injuries and illness and any other anomalies.
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to site and leadership personnel, on demand, and on a regular basis.

Training & Learning Management

  • Input and manage site training records within Skeena's learning management system as required.
  • Develop, implement and manage the departmental-specific H&S induction program and manage the H&S internal on/off-boarding members of H&S and H&S contractor groups.

Incident & Hazard Management

  • Moderate incident reports as required and ensure corrective action completion and effectiveness through Skeena's incident management system INX InControl. Share the findings with the H&S Team and Management team through weekly reports.
  • Report on hazard assessments, ongoing hazard identifications, and incident investigations by collecting, analyzing, and organizing data.
  • Investigate, prepare, and forward as required reports and presentations on injuries, illnesses, and other health-related information.

Meetings & Communication

  • Participate in H&S meetings by preparing agendas, attending meetings, taking minutes, and documenting and communicating action items.
  • Facilitate Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHSC) meetings including creating agendas, taking minutes and assigning actions as required.
  • Act as a point of contact for H&S inquiries from other departments.

Procurement & Inventory

  • Research, identify and procure all necessary equipment, parts and necessary items for the H&S team through Skeena's procurement system, and maintain an accurate inventory of supplies.

Other Duties

  • All other duties as reasonably assigned.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

  • Diploma from a vocational institution in Health & Safety Administration or a related field.

Experience / Skills

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an Administrator/Analyst role in mining, government, or construction, with a primary focus on analysing, preparing, database and document management, statistical analysis, departmental administration, and using associated software and programs (SAP, MS Office, etc.).
  • Experience with diversified and changing workplaces, such as working on a remote site and working from home, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of digital tools and technology. Proficient with standard office software such as Microsoft Office, email, and web-based databases such as SAP and SharePoint. Knowledge of H&S Management Systems.
  • Previous experience using an incident management software system such as INX InControl is preferred.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail

  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities

Work Location & Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
