The Process Engineering Department is currently seeking a motivated Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Process Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer to gain practical, hands-on experience in process design and operations within a collaborative and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, contributing to process modeling, simulations, and the preparation of technical documentation. This role is well-suited for individuals who are enthusiastic about learning, eager to contribute to multidisciplinary projects, and committed to developing their skills and expertise in Process Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing process simulations and modeling for various engineering projects.
- Support the development of material balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute to the preparation of heat and material balances, equipment process data sheets, line sizing calculations, pressure safety valve (PSV) sizing and other required technical documentation.
- Participate in P&ID and HAZOP reviews, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
- Collaborate with senior engineers in the analysis of process systems, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mass balances.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and industry standards (i.e. API, ASME, ISO).
- Support project teams with budget tracking, scheduling, and overall technical coordination.
- Work closely with vendors, clients, and multidisciplinary internal teams to develop effective engineering solutions.
- Provide assistance during facility commissioning, start-up activities, and operational troubleshooting efforts.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Base understanding of Chemical Engineering principles, including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
- Foundational knowledge of process system design, mass transfer, heat integration, and pressure relief systems.
- Familiarity with process safety practices, risk management, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Proficiency in HYSYS and other process simulation software is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a proactive approach to professional development.

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
- 0 – 3 years of experience in an EPCM, process engineering, or related industry.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in Process Engineering is considered an asset.
