Procurement Manager
Durham OneNet Inc is an independent Municipal Services Corporation, wholly owned by the Regional Municipality of Durham. Procurement Manager – 3 to 4 days / week, One Year Contract with Possible Extension
Reporting to Chief Financial Officer, and working very closely with the Operations Team, you will:
- Be responsible for the overall governance of the procurement process and policies for the organization, ensuring that the team always complies with processes and policies
- Review policies, standard contracts and purchasing terms ongoing to ensure they continually meet the needs of the organization
- Provide overall procurement guidance and direction to the Operations Team
- Obtain competitive quotes or proposals through the issuance and management of RFQ's and RFP's for various network material, equipment and contracted construction services
- Manage and develop supplier relationships in a professional and ethical manner.
- Negotiate and finalize contract terms with suppliers to minimize risk and the total cost of ownership while maximizing the benefit to the company
- Work with suppliers to develop inventory stocking plans to reduce lead times and company inventory levels where appropriate
- Utilize Durham OneNet's standard contract format for services, working with the Legal department as necessary
- Assist the Operations department with ongoing purchasing
- Inventory and warehousing duties as required
About you:
- At least seven years of procurement experience, ideally in a telecom or utility related construction environment
- Familiar with Outside Plant (fibre optic cable, conduit, enclosures etc.) and Inside Plant (fibre optic customer premise equipment) materials and sources of supply
- Excellent systems knowledge and experience including all Microsoft Office products
- A combination of Public and Private Sector purchasing experience would be an asset
- Experience with procurement and ERP systems such as NetSuite
- Some level of PMAC accreditation may be considered an asset
- Experience with negotiating commercial contract terms in conjunction with Legal resources
- Ability to review and negotiate Statements of Work
- Skilled problem solver and multi-tasker
- Comfortable and experienced at working with multi-functional teams
- Excellent communications skills
- Flexible and nimble; willing to take on duties and responsibilities that may be outside of the typical procurement function
Contract Rate: Durham OneNet offers competitive compensation inline with the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
