Reporting to the Supervisor of the Non-Ferrous Shred department, the General Labourer will be responsible for performing any tasks associated with the operations of our downstream area. The General Labourer will be responsible for the efficient processing of scrap materials according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.
The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Identifying various (scrap) metal pieces
Sorting and picking various materials accordingly
Cleaning work area and equipment as often as required
Recognizing operational deficiencies (ie. machines or processes) and reporting them to the supervisor
Operating equipment and machines while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
Working in accordance to all company health and safety guidelines
Assisting in other areas of the business as needed (ie. warehouse)
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Warehouse-type setting, with occasional outside work
Some overtime as required
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts
Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
Use of Personal Protection Equipment is mandatory (company provided)
Own tools/equipment required: Steel-toed safety boots

Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
